SELL MY OLD CAR AUSTIN, ROUND ROCK, PFLUGERVILLE.   JUNK CAR PRICES. AND RECYCLING METALS.

Most Valuable Metals Found in Junk Cars

At some point or another either yourself or someone you know has had a junk car to get rid of. You might be asking yourself, “Just how do I do that?” or “Where do I go and what’s in it for me?” Good thing is that there are several options out there. You can try to resale it but chances are if it is in bad condition or doesn’t run that you wouldn’t be very successful. Well what should be done next? You could recycle it, scrap it for cash, or if you’re creative, you can make a really cool piece of art.
If one decides to sell it for scrap metal, there’s an awesome opportunity to make some good, easy cash. But before you go down to the junk yard to get your cash for your car, there’s some very useful information you should know about the different types of metal that can be found inside that old car of yours. Some of these metals are very valuable. So it’s important that you know about exactly what you’re selling so you don’t get taken advantage for just simply not knowing.
PLATINUM CAR PARTS
Hopefully your car still has its catalytic converter. Reason being, if your car still has this part, there’s a very good chance that it contains the precious metal, Platinum. Platinum is used as a catalyst in the catalytic converter; others use Rhodium or Palladium (both of which are also very valuable). Catalytic converters can guarantee money for you.
Platinum is very useful in a variety of industries. It is one metal that can be used over and over again without losing value. It’s a commodity that we as society take advantage of whenever we can because of the durability of this metal.  Depending on where you go, scrap yards can offer a range of different prices for the Platinum contained in the catalytic converters. You will want to make sure you choose a company that has a good and long standing reputation. So shop around to get more bang for your buck.

IRON AND STEEL
Roughly 65% of the materials used to make cars are a steel alloy. Steel is one of the most common metals found in a junk car and also can be reused and recycled over and over again like the precious metals mentioned earlier. Steel doesn’t bring in as much money as Platinum, Rhodium or Palladium but the quantity found makes up for the price difference.
The automotive industry values steel for its durability, strength, resistance to rust and many more reasons. Steel can be found in parts of the body, chassis, frame, wheels and other parts as well.
Iron is also found in many junk cars, especially older models. Iron isn’t used nearly as much in today’s models as in the past due to its heavy weight. Don’t worry; you will still get cash for the iron found in the old car. Iron alloys are still found in newer models though and can still be sold for cash. Iron is found usually in parts of the engine. Even though it’s heavy, it is extremely durable, hence why it was widely used in older cars for engine parts.

ALUMINUM AND COPPER
Aluminum is a light weight metal. It’s most commonly used in today’s cars in the place of Iron and other heavier parts. The lighter weight of this metal is helpful because it allows the car to be more fuel efficient therefore reducing the pollution levels from the exhaust. The most common places you will find Aluminum is in engines, radiators, cylinder heads, pistons, and rims of the wheels. Aluminum is still durable just lighter in weight.
Now with Copper, there are a variety of parts in which it can be found. The radiator, wiring, alternators, starters, moving engine parts, as well as others can very well be made of Copper. Copper has many uses and benefits many industries in today’s economy. Since Copper remains in high demand, it means more cash for you.
All in all, if you take the time to do a little bit of research of the components of your old junk car, you can potentially be looking at quite the pay day. Provided that you go with an experienced scrap metal buyer with a good reputation.
